Beginner Rug Hooking

We have beginner classes scheduled at the studio. Please contact us if you would like to learn the basics. These classes are truly for beginners, if you have never tried traditional rug hooking or if you need a refresher. All supplies are available for purchase in class or bring:  a 14 inch quilt hoop, small scissors with a point, a rug hook. Purchase a beginner kit or bring a project ready to start with cut wool strips. Color Theory Through Hooking 

  August 19 and 20

 We’re offering a special two‑day color theory class built around hooking our 18 x 18 inch pattern “A Little Off.” This workshop is designed to help you understand how color behaves in wool, how values and hues interact, and how to make confident color choices in your rugs. You’ll explore color planning, experiment with unexpected combinations, and learn how subtle shifts can dramatically change the look of your work.

Class Details:Dates: August 19 & 20 • Time: 10 AM – 3 PM each day • Teachers: Laura Kenyon and Debra Walland • Class Size: Limited to 8 participants • Fee: $220 — includes the “A Little Off” pattern on linen, all wool needed for the project, and lunch both days

Dawn Hebert teaches  series of monthly classes for those who wish to learn or improve their hooking skills .  Dawn is a certified McGown teacher who has been hooking for 20 years.  She is such a low key, supportive teacher. You will thoroughly enjoy her small classes. She teaches anything from primitive to fine shading

This is an open class, that is, you can work on any rug in any style.  Bring what you are currently working on or start a new project with a kit or a pattern and wool in the studio. She will even help you draw your own rug pattern. Here are some of Dawn's rugs:
