THE EASTWOOD SCHOOL Of FIBER ARTS
(Formerly SCRUB HOOKING CAMPS-SEBRING, FLORIDA)
DIRECTORS: LAURA KENYON AND DEBRA WALLAND
DIRECTOR EMERITA: ANNE EASTWOOD
UPDATE: The 2021 January and March sessions are cancelled due to the risks of COVID-19. The safety and health of our students, teachers, and the hotel staff are our biggest concern. As the forecast is that the pandemic will be continuing for some time, and people from everywhere join in our group, we thought it best to cancel the sessions. If you have already paid a deposit, it will be quickly refunded. Be sue we have your most recent mailing address. Perhaps later in 2021 we will find a way to gather again.
We would like to announce with great excitement that we are the new directors of Anne Eastwood’s Hooking camp.We started with the January camp in 2019. We are blessed to be chosen by Anne to continue her tradition of the camps in Sebring, Florida.
We are pleased to honor our founder and Director Emeritus by changing the rug hooking school name to The Eastwood School. She has kept the school running since 1991. At the March 2019 session in Sebring, FL, with Anne present as a guest "student" we announced the change.
Registration is open for the 2021 sessions and registration forms will be available on this website or calling Laura at (401) 932-6994. The dates for the sessions are January 22 to 25, 2021 and March 26 to 29, 2021.
We are fortunate to have an incredible group of talented and sought-after teachers this year! January 2021 teachers are Diane Stoffel, Ania Knap, and Nancy Jewett. March 2021 teachers are Capri Boyle-Jones and Sarah Guiliani. Their biographies are on the enrollment form for each session if you are not familiar with their accomplishments.
Teachers may charge a color planning fee for work at home depending on size and amount of planning involved.
Teachers are paid from your registration fee for teaching in class, not for homework. Your teacher will contact you and as in the past you may work on unfinished patterns and get help from the teachers or you may start a new project. If buying a new pattern purchasing it from your camp teacher is always appreciated. There will be a camp store with patterns, wool, and some supplies, and teachers will always have lots of wool.
The camps will continue to be held at the beautiful Inn on the Lakes. The Inn has a pool (imagine a cold drink poolside), exercise room.restaurant, and cocktail lounge. There is an elevator. There is shopping nearby. There are two golf courses within walking distance. There is a beachfront boat landing, tennis, and horseback riding. The inn is pet friendly so the whole family can visit.
You may come into your classroom & select your hooking space any time after 11 A.M. on Friday. Classes will start at 2 PM Friday & end on Monday after lunch..
A $100.00 deposit will reserve a place in a class when you register. Payment can be paid on-line or mailed. Check the Session page for the due date for the balance payment of $325. Total tuition ($425) can also be paid on line or mailed with your registration. Prices may be subject to change. Registration fee covers meals: Friday dinner through Monday lunch, all gratuities including tax, teacher’s fees, classroom space with coffee, soda, and water. A short orientation is Friday night, and a rug show for the public on Sunday.
You must make your own room reservations. Blocks have been set aside for January 2021. Rooms should be booked as soon as possible. In order to get the special rate, you must identify yourself as being with the EASTWOOD SCHOOL Rug hookers. Room rates are listed on the enrollment forms for each session.
